I thought it was 12th or 13th street between 1st and 2nd....am I close?
What street has all the great Indian food restaurants?
You are close. It is off 1st Ave. I think the streets are 4th, 5th or 6th. It has kind of spilled off of that strip as well.

East 6th st. is what you%26#39;re thinking about. Banjara at the corner of 6th %26amp; 1st ave is very good. There are a number of good ones on Lexington below 29th st.
there are a lot on 6th street between 1st anv and 2nd ave. Also look around though, make the circle around 5th/6th street and 1st/2nd ave. There are 3 places on 1st between 5th and 6th, not the greatest food but all on top of eachother. the best part is the b.y.o.b. policy with a conveniently located bodega at the bottom of the pile sporting a hefty collection of over 400 imported and domestic beers.
Also, don%26#39;t rule out DiFara%26#39;s pizza. A bit of a trek on the N out to Midwood brooklyn, but some of the best in the city. Also, underrated and right in Manhattan on Bleecker street (between 6th and 7th ave) is John%26#39;s Pizzeria. Noth the place for a slice but order a pie with peppers, onions, and sausage and you will not be disappointed.
I think you might be a bit disappointed if you were looking for a curry, grandmas rainbow ;-)
You%26#39;re not wrong MaidstoneNic! Grandmas_rainbow that%26#39;s a bit of a stretch from Indian to pizza and e 6th Street to Brooklyn.
Tamarind on e 22nd has some excellent Indian food and adjacent is a darling little tea room! http://www.tamarinde22.com/index.html
Lexington Avenue around 26th to 28th Street has one great Indian restaurant after another.

If you go to the E. 6th St. strip, go to Haveli. It%26#39;s not on 6th - it%26#39;s actually on 2nd Ave. Very good, and I believe that their kitchen is not connected to the others behind 6th St.
I think ';Curry Hill'; (Lex Ave in the 20s) has slightly better places.
