Would like to know if this is a good way to see the city and if so where does one get one, where does it go %26amp; how much. Is it hop on %26amp; off like the greyline. also is the latter good value %26amp; good for getting a feel of the city as only there for 4 nights

Thanks

Hi Patti,

new york water taxi

surely someone must have some info for me HELP

I can%26#39;t give you advice from experience but we are planning one using this service in Dec. You can call 212 742 1969 or go on their website as mentioned above to purchase tickets. I plan on buying the two day hop on hop off pass. You can board at several midtown locations and hop on and off as often as you like. According to the map on their site the taxi does has ports from 42nd all the way around to the Brooklyn bridge area. They also offer narrated tours.

The water taxi is a pretty way to see the city, but you won%26#39;t get any commentary like you would on the circle line tour. If you are looking for commentary and better value while being on the water - check out http://www.circleline.com/ this site has a few different options, depending on what interests you.

The water taxi%26#39;s do operate on a schedule. Use this website http://www.nywatertaxi.com/. The fares/schedules/map are listed on the website. The hop on/hop off tour is $25 for adults. here are also other tours available.

well, gee, patti,

you just blow off CathyC%26#39;s answer to your post

Doesn%26#39;t her answer doesn%26#39;t count as helpful ?????

Personally, I think being on foot and using the subways is the most authentic way of seeing NYC (especially in the winter when it鈥檚 so cold on the water) and it鈥檚 much less expensive. But if you have a problem getting around it might be a good deal.

For specifics on where to pick them up you really do need to have a look at that website.

Thanks to you all - just wanted to get a selection of opinions and I certainly wasn%26#39;t blowing out the first reply so i was concerned at that comment as that wasn%26#39;t my intention to offend. I hoped for help from a variety of sources which I felt was one of the great things about this site

I agree that walking is the best way to get the feel of the city, but having taken the water taxis, there is nothing better than being on the water and seeing our unbelievable skyline, it really is an awe-inspiring sight. Check their website:

www.nywatertaxi.com.

Have looked at the website but just wanted to get personal opinions. also thought circle line tour looked good. It is so difficult to decide what to do for the best but in the end goess it will all be great. Am staying in Brooklyn Marriott so might use facilities that are nearest %26amp; guess that feet. Thanks
