They are allowed and I think even free. But I think it might be scary for a child. The helicopter is very loud and the ride is not exactly smooth.

i think kids are allowed but really its not worth the money
we did a helicopter trip in june a day before one crashed into the hudson river.
we were told it would be 15 minutes long but we were lucky if we got 10 and the flight path we took was nothing like the one we were told we would be taking.
so save yourself some money and do the circle line boat cruise their great and the views are a amazing
we did a night time disco cruise it was much more fun than the helicopter.
We did the NYNY tour a few years ago, and it was really good. I%26#39;m really scared of flying, but it was very smooth and we went all the way up to Yankee Stadium as well, as down the Hudson...you get to see all 5 boroughs.It took about 20 minutes. Children were going up when we left..we used the W30th St Heliport with libertyhelicopters.com.
you must have been lucky daisygee we only flew up the hudson to the s.o.l and back down we were told we would circle the s.o.l for some photo opertunities but we didn%26#39;t
things must have changed since then
we also flew with liberty helicopters.
