';21 club'; 21 West 52nd Street can anyone give me any info...

Hello All

Does anyone have any feedback on 21 Club . I have been offered this as a venue for my November Wedding and the internet site does not give an awful lot away. The room they have offered is ';Petes Room'; and apparantly holds around 20 people.

Is it the right kind of place for a wedding ?

Thanks in advance . Angela

I%26#39;ve only been to business lunches in Pete%26#39;s Room. It%26#39;s nice for that but IMHO I%26#39;d prefer something more festive for a wedding. Then again, I%26#39;ve never seen it all decked out for a wedding, so I might not be the best judge. The restaurant itself is very nice and their food is excellent.

I only went there once about 15 years ago. Be that as it may, I can%26#39;t imagine a wedding being held there, even a small one. Yes, it is an experience, and institution, and all that, but my main memory of the place was that it had very low ceilings, and was full of *stuff* - memorabilia, ';old boy%26#39;s club'; furniture, etc.

How did you get ';offered'; this venue? Curious...

Our wedding was just this past May. I would suggest surfing ';The Knot';! (www.theknot.com) It was our lifesaver!

This is the New York Knot page:

Post some questions on the New York Chat Board. I%26#39;ve seen many out-of-town brides who are getting married in NYC post queries here. A crowd of brides and brides-to-be will answer you - especially, if you post in the AM of US Eastern Standard Time!

Good luck and congrats!

Here%26#39;s a small photo of Pete%26#39;s room which also leads you to other things about the restaurant.

The rest. is a lovely classic, historic NY place and was originally a speakeasy during prohibition (when liquor was outlawed in the US)

Not knowing what other venues you%26#39;re considering or the price, I don%26#39;t know what to say. I%26#39;ve never been in that room but have been to the restaurant and the bar which is what%26#39;s famous. They are known for very good wine if that%26#39;s important to you. When you say ';I have been offered'; do I gather you%26#39;re using a wedding planner? Would you care to share the other options? Will you have the ceremony there as well or just the reception? What sort of food/ambiance etc. are you looking for?

Here%26#39;s another website for reception sites

Not all are in Manhattan so look at one that have an address of New York, NY

Thank you for your very quick replies. yes you are right this option has been offered by a wedding planner . Because we have left things right until the last minute we are very limited in our choice.

We tried to get the Rainbow Room grill but apparantlyweddings have been temporarily suspended there. Another option is 14 Wall Street - JP Morgans old apartment , we went to see this venue when we visited in April , we really like the restaurant but it seemed as though it needed a little love !

There will only be around 20 people so we don%26#39;t want anyhting too big , also we were looking for a place where we could have the ceremony as well

Quick question Angela, do you only have these two venues as your choices?

(Not knocking them - just curious as to what you were offered. Obviously taking into account you%26#39;re looking for a place to hold the ceremony too.)

Say, I found this inquiry on The Knot....is this YOU? ;o)

These were the only ones we have been offered , we have been in touch with Virgin Weddings and Kuoni who were, to be polite, useless. To be honest we are not overly fussed where we stay whilst in New York , we can take care of that ourselves, we would like somewhere nice where we can all get together and enjoy our day My main concern is bring 20 family and firends to the city and it all goes horribly wrong !!

Angela, you%26#39;ve got bags of time, don%26#39;t worry! We looked at Kuoni and White Sands etc before we got married but it seemed so much extra expense (with lots more hassle) so we decided just to booked things ourselves. It all went swimmingly!

Again, don%26#39;t worry. You%26#39;ve still got loads of time to look at the options and make your choices. Just don%26#39;t settle for anything less than what you want.

You%26#39;ll get so much advice from the kind folk here. There%26#39;s a good chance you%26#39;ll be able to book a private room at a restaurant you like the sound of too, if you%26#39;re not sure if the restaurant of your choice is possible then just ring them - they%26#39;ll be so nice when they hear you%26#39;re planning your wedding.

Unless you%26#39;re already committed to these people, I agree with Ange, we can really help you do it all. I%26#39;d even be willing to make some local phone calls. I don%26#39;t know the Wall st. venue.

My cousin got married at Bayard%26#39;s. Granted it was a larger party but they have many rooms there. It feels like a historic club with lots of boats around. It%26#39;s all the way downtown in a historic building. She had the ceremony downstairs and the meal upstairs. Check out their website. Food really excellent.

La Grenouille is a fabulous French rest. and they have a private dining room.

Before I go any further, post back if you want to pursue this and what type of food/ambiance you%26#39;d ideally like.
