Any body know of a way to get a cheap rental car in New York? I am flying in to JFK and the rates for Budget, Enterprise, Dollar, etc ... are all extremely expensive. Since I my trip includes PA and D.C, I need to rent a car, so the subway is out of the question ... unless, you have a suggestion of taking the subway or taxi to some other palce to rent a car. Thanks much for any feedback.

even if it is not Philadelphia, you might want to consider taking Amtrak to whereever you are going in Pennsylvania and renting a car there instead

Rental cars are very expensive in the NYC area. The main reasons are high insurance rates and no one (well, not NO ONE, but you know what I mean) owns a car. The best that I have done is about $45/day on Priceline. Normal prices are about $65-70.
Why do you need to have a car? If you only have two more destinations (as opposed to say 10), there are pretty easy public transport options (especially if PA means Philadelphia).
