Staying at the Southgate Tower (opposite the Garden) for 3 nights in October and want to take the girlfriend to a really nice restaurant (something abit classy and funky!). Don%26#39;t really have a budget to stick to and not bothered if we have to take a cab! l wont have a jacket with me, although will be reasonably smart!
Any suggestions really appreciated.
Advice on which resturant!
I%26#39;ve never had the pleasure of eating at the Biltmore Room, but can vouch for their incredible cocktails. (I highly recommend their ';Way of the Dragon'; martini. Expensive, but incredible.)

It%26#39;s been incredibly popular since opening a couple of years ago, so tough to get a prime reservation.
You can see the menu (including the cocktail menu) on their web site.

That%26#39;s a great suggestion within a walk of your hotel. Another idea is going to the meatpacking district. Here are a list of places there and reviews

I wold go the Hell%26#39;s Kitchen area (West 40s and 50s, 8th to 10th AVenues)
I would recommend Vynl - 824 Ninth Ave at 54th St - it is very quirky and hip. And affordable!!! It is mostly vegetarian and Pan-Asian, but also serves chicken, meat, fish, etc. Not your typical ';romantic'; place, but very fun!

Good luck!
Also, if you request the ';Hippo-style'; portions in Vynl, they will bring you substantial plates of food for an extra $10 a head. Under no circumstances, however, should you opt for the Hippo plates unless you%26#39;re used to guzzling large quantities of food at a single sitting.
If you%26#39;re looking for classy AND funky, two come to mind, and on the same street. Check out WD50 or 71 Clinton Fresh Food. Both located on Clinton street on the lower east side, they each offer very unique cuisine in a sheik, funky environment. WD50 is a little more out there, so if you%26#39;re feeling adventurous go for it. They are both food funky and decor funky, so i don%26#39;t know if that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re looking for, but they%26#39;re defanitely different.
