NY Jets & NY Rangers

Im wanting to go to 2 sporting events during my trip - 29/12/05 to 4/1/06.

Where is the best place to buy tickets for the football/hockey

Jan 1 - NYJets v Buffalo Bills

Jan 3 - NY Rangers play at Madison Sq

I think ticketmaster is probably best for NY Rangers?

NY Jets %26amp; NY Rangers

Jets will be playing Buffalo that day. Games are always sold out. You might try stubhub.com for tickets but be prepared to spend MONEY. I just looked on ticketmaster and the cheapest seats I could find were $400 per ticket.

And after watching todays game I would save my money..lol

NY Jets %26amp; NY Rangers

similarly, I was looking at the NY Jets V Tampa on 9th October.

Is ebay the best way of getting them?

What are the chances of picking up tickets outside the stadium (even from touts) And what proce will I pay.

Secondly, The Yankees look like they%26#39;ll be in the playoffs. Assuming there is a game during my visit (6-11 Oct), then How easy / hard is it to get a ticket?

I note from their website that regular season tickets are $95 for the top tickets - Are they likely to be much more for the post season?

I have never used ebay so I can%26#39;t comment on that. In NY we call them scalpers, they will get the most they can from you. It is against the law to sell tickets outside the venue. It%26#39;s done all the time but if you get caught you will lose your tickets and money. I can say from experience that there are plenty of plain clothes officers all around.

Not only that but Giants stadium is always a sellout. As for Yankee Stadium it is near impossible to get tickets for the playoff and or world series. If I%26#39;m not mistaken the Yankees damn near sold out all the regular season games too.

Perhaps stubhub.com would be a choice, just be prepared to mortage the house for tickets.

Welcome to NY sports..:)

For excellent Indian food, go to the ';Curry Hill'; neighborhhod(Lexington and Third AVes, in the high 20s) It%26#39;s the locale for South East Asian cuisine.

Info about the neighborhood and lists of restaurants:

    menupages.com/restaurants.asp鈥?/a>

Also, try Carribean food for great curry (esp. curry goat).

  • Mahj's questions part two

Thanks all for the responses to this morning%26#39;s post. Couldn%26#39;t wait to get home from work to read your input.

MaidstoneNic...1)am going back to Travel Inn on 42nd St. and plan to be at hotel by 1 p.m., then sightseeing immediately. 2)we do plan to eat lunch or dinner at Katz. 3) do you recommend pre-booking the Tenement Museum tour and do you or anyone else out there recommend a specific topic? Do these tours sell out? 4) will it be obvious where the knockoffs are sold in Chinatown? 5)Any idea how long touring SoHo would be? We are more window shoppers and gawkers! 6) any advice on tackling the Metroplitan Museum?

broadwaynyc and nywhiz -- great thoughts, thanks much.

I%26#39;m feeling confident with some changes ti the itinerary it will be a great trip (tired feet and all!).

    Mahj's questions part two

OK, Mahj, it%26#39;s beginning to sound improbable now rather than impossible!

Let%26#39;s look at Friday and see if we can do it:

First off, forget Times Sq - you%26#39;re going there on Saturday. Also have lunch at Katz and then straight on to the Tenement Museum. I would recommend prebooking but can%26#39;t advise on which tour but I%26#39;m sure someone can. Just keep your ears open in China Town and you%26#39;ll hear the whispers! The problem is that by the time you%26#39;ve purchased your knock-offs, it will be dark and you still want to hit Brooklyn (not to mention Little Italy and SoHo)! I think that I%26#39;m in agreement with whiz that it can%26#39;t be done on Friday afternoon.

Let%26#39;s adopt whiz%26#39;s plan for Friday - Times Sq, Rock Center, 5th Ave and then a show. If you%26#39;re not too tired, you could then do the ESB before it closes.

Saturday I would again follow whiz%26#39;s excellent advice of Brooklyn in the morning although you could walk up Mulberry St after Canal St and see virtually all that%26#39;s left of Little Italy. If you turn left once you get to Spring St you will be in SoHo and can admire the fine architecture in Greene St and the surrounding area.

Sunday is decision day. You%26#39;re not going to be able to do everything so you have to decide Katz and Tenement Museum or Central Park and the Met. Perhaps wait and see what the weather is like. If it%26#39;s sunny, go to the park, if raining, hit Katz.

I honestly think that if you tried to pack any more in, you%26#39;d have a rebellion on your hands!

    lunch near central park

We will be at Central Park on Nov 25th around lunch time, (the boys will be playing basketball with the locals). Where is a reasonable spot for lunch?

    lunch near central park

Central Park is about a mile wide and 2 miles long. Can you be more specific? Do you mean picnic or a restaurant?

    lunch near central park

Sorry, long day here. We will be around 84th, west I believe, there is a place where I%26#39;ve been told my boys can play some basketball. Is there somewhere close that has good wings and burgers?

Without a doubt - for burgers go to Jackson Hole:

    menupages.com/restaurantdetails.asp鈥?/a>

Here are other places I found on Menupages.com

    Firehouse:

    menupages.com/restaurantdetails.asp鈥?/a>

    Homer%26#39;s ';great for beer and fried stuff';

    menupages.com/restaurantdetails.asp鈥?/a>

queens, omg I love that website, you can print perfect little menus. This is exactly what I was looking for. Homer looks great for the kids and I love beer so..... and this Lenny%26#39;s gourmet looks great for breakfast. thanks so much.

The eternal question of how to get SNL and Letterman...

    Gday everyone,

now i have been all over internet, fan sites in regards to Saturday Night Live adn how to get tickets but i am getting conflicting stories, some places it says mail but other say line up at ticket office in times square. Can anyone assist me with this, can i send ahead to be part of a lottery for tickets ow would we have to line up, taking into account that we will be there for middle of January. Any help is appreciated.

The eternal question of how to get SNL and Letterman...

SNL has one lottery in August for the following season. So you are too late to get in on it for a January trip. You can do the sand by line on the day of the show you wish to go to.

    Good luck!

The eternal question of how to get SNL and Letterman...

The other poster is correct - it is too late to get SNL tickets. Check out this website for info on Letterman tickets: cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/show_info/ls_show鈥?/a>

I just went to a Daily Show taping with Jon Stewart and had a great time! Getting tickets there was no problem.

    Good luck!

Thanks guys for that, and here i thought i was getting in early, but i will check out website for Letterman tickets and see how i go, thanks again for advice.
